Public-transport users should secure the return connection before deciding whether a post-cruise activity still fits. Do not rely on going to the other pier at the last moment.
Choose a Practical Accommodation Base
- Qiandao Lake Town or the Central Lake pier side: Best for a first visit, a Central Lake cruise, restaurants, and general transfers.
- Southeast Lake side: Consider it only when the dated boat product actually departs from the Southeast Lake pier and the morning transfer is confirmed.
- Resort hotel: Best when the property itself is a major part of the trip. Compare transport, dining, children's facilities, reservation requirements, and weather cancellation rather than only the lake-view photograph.
- Rural or remote stay: Suitable for a driving itinerary with a defined nearby route, not as a vague base for a first cruise morning.

Build the Budget Around the Main Route
Separate the budget into transport to and from Qiandao Lake, local transfers, the dated boat product, accommodation, meals, and optional cycling or water activities. Use the current official payment or order page to check whether the ticket includes the boat and island extras, and how children's or concession documents apply.
Confirm arrival and departure first, choose the lake area and date second, reserve cancellable accommodation third, and buy weather-sensitive cycling, water, or night activities last. A single per-person total hides the difference between routes. Do not prepay a low-price bundle that cannot identify the operator or explain its cancellation terms.
Weather, Suspended Sailings, and the Return
Strong wind, thunderstorms, heavy rain, water conditions, and operating changes can alter cruises and water activities. Check the official notice once the evening before and again on the departure morning. When sailing is suspended, do not replace it with an unverified boat; switch to a confirmed indoor activity, a short waterfront walk, rest, or another date.
On the return day, avoid an unpredictable long cruise, a distant greenway section, or a plan built around the final available transfer. If the cruise is delayed, roads are congested, or weather deteriorates, protect the train or road connection, accommodation, and safety before optional activities.

Everyone should first agree on whether the cruise is the core experience.
