If crowd control skips a stop or makes the loop one-way, continue under staff direction—walking on the vehicle road is not an alternative.

For a half-day, enter through the reserved gate, begin at a broad platform, spend the longest stop where the bands are most legible, and finish with a more sculptural view. The Colorful Danxia circuit needs slack for ticketing and bus queues, followed by enough road margin that the return to Zhangye does not end at a train's closing gate. A same-day transfer to Binggou requires confirmed opening at both sites, dependable road transport and a generous return plan; most first visits are clearer when the second landform moves to another day.

Wind, visibility, airspace or equipment can halt a low-altitude activity at short notice. Avoid any private transaction designed to bypass the ticket desk or safety check, and never pressure a crew to launch because transport has already cost money. Children, older travellers and anyone prone to motion sickness should weigh the extra view against the physical burden.

From central Zhangye, compare the current public shuttle, a licensed small-group tour, a pre-booked car and self-driving. Public departures may change between busy and quiet seasons, so locate both the outbound stop and the return before leaving. A driver needs the booked entrance, parking and charging information; a charter agreement should also state waiting, a changed gate and the final Zhangye drop-off.
Staying in Zhangye suits rail travellers and gives access to museums and a wider choice of meals. A property near Colorful Danxia is useful for an early or late session only after dinner, luggage storage, heating or cooling and checkout transport are settled. Zhangye noodles, beef, lamb and chaobola are among the local options; ask about portion size, chilli, allergens and shared cooking oil, and carry water and a modest snack when the scenic area's choices are limited.
List transport, admission and sightseeing bus, accommodation, meals, optional activities, parking/fuel/charging, and cancellation exposure as separate budget lines. Price both a half-day return from Zhangye and an overnight near the site before choosing. Add sunset, an extended route or a flight only after the basic visit and return are funded, using current official or established-platform quotes rather than a fixed figure from an old account.
9. Tickets, Reservations and Refunds
Admission, sightseeing transport, extended visits and optional experiences may appear as separate products. Buy through Colorful Danxia's official channel or an established platform that identifies the seller, then match the gate, date, time, identification requirement, bus inclusion and change terms to the plan. Child, student and older-person concessions depend on current document and age rules, not an old travel diary.
Sunrise, sunset, extended-route and flight products need particular attention to assembly time, late arrival and weather cancellation.
